Patna Women’s College was established in 1940 by Bishop B.J.Sullivan S.J. and Mother M.Josephine for a social change which was meant to librate and empower women by providing them equal opportunities of higher education.

With this vision, the foundation of Patna Women’s college was laid in Patna, Bihar. It was a brave and revolutionary step at that time in a place where female education was criticized by majority if not by all and was not considered necessary and important.
